Fanfare and Celebration - Cover Page - 2

This is a celebratory piece that opens with a boisterous fanfare; introducing the main theme of the work. This theme is then fully introduced by the entire band, followed by a quieter secondary theme in the woodwinds. After a return to the opening theme, a third thematic idea, reminiscent of the opening, is played by the brass section, which leads to a transition into the middle section of the piece.

Here, a variation of the primary thematic material is used to create contrast, giving us a flowing, slightly syncopated movement that eventually leads back to the opening theme. After a recapitulation, with expanded countermelodies, of the first section, the piece closes with a final variation on the main theme.

The opening fanfare can be played as a separate piece, with a duration of approximately 30 seconds. Fanfare and Celebration also features an opportunity for an alto saxophone solo trio in the middle section.
