Elegy was written over the two days that bridge the old and new years; December 31st and January 1st. With 2020 being such a tumultuous year, I felt that a meditative piece would be appropriate to reflect on the past year, and to think forward to the year to come.
The piece forces the listener to slow their perception of time, and to allow the music to unfold at it's own pace.
Elegy was written to be played on a piano with a felt insert between the hammers and the strings. If that is not available, play the entire piece una corda.
